(Source: StudentAid.gov) Recent Department of Education rule changes allow students to apply for FAFSA three months earlier than previously available.

New federal rules have changed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) procedure, allowing students to apply for federal student aid funds earlier than ever before.

Previously, the earliest a student could file was Jan. 1 but thanks to rule changes by the US Department of Education, students can now file their applications starting on Oct. 1.

Students are also able to use earlier tax information than ever before to apply. Whereas students (and parents, as appropriate) were previously required to include the current year’s tax and income information in their FAFSA application, they can now submit information from the previous year.

With more students than ever taking online classes, and many institutions now requiring online exams to be proctored, ProctorU has identified a unique need in the online education market.

Now, ProctorU access cards allow students to pay for online exam sessions with financial aid funds.

Many students are already paying for ProctorU’s service through ProctorU.com. While the website accepts all major credit cards, access cards allow students to use financial aid funds to pay for proctoring sessions when they purchase their books and other supplies.

ProctorU access cards are purchased in the bookstore by test-takers and redeemed online while scheduling exams. Each access card contains a unique code hidden inside a sealed and folded card. Four categories of cards cover different exam lengths, including thirty-minute, one-hour, two-hour and three-hour exams.
